Chapter 23

The next day Tiago was finally fully awake, conscious, and mad as hell! In the past few days his house had been obviously spied upon by a man dressed in combat black, who carried a stun gun and escaped by stealing a neighbor’s motorcycle. He had turned this into a public relations “win” by buying the kid a new bike and showing the neighbors that he was actually an asset by scaring away the robber. He knew, of course, that the truth was far less noble or successful than that. No matter, then, one of his best men gets arrested for domestic violence, and while press hadn't yet made the connection to him, he knew it was just a matter of time. Next, a girl he picked up and took to the “Man Cave”, ended up drugging HIM, along with his bodyguards, and she left the premises right before a “hit-squad” came in the house for who knows what reason! And to top it all off, the only guard that was able to put up any fight at all, was the disgraced one that got arrested. All of his men died, he slept through the whole thing and the only reason he wasn’t more embarrassingly embroiled in the whole affair was because Chuco had been alerted by the offsite surveillance video that had just recently been installed in the Cave. Chuco was able to get him out before the police turned the place into a crime scene under investigation. Things were inexcusably sloppy, and besides he was under some kind of attack that he didn’t understand. It didn’t follow the usual methods his normal enemies used, it was actually very pointed and desperate. It worried him that someone was taking these risks, and he had no clue as to why!

In the middle of his deep thought, Chuco and his wife walked into his room. She had that smirking look that a woman gets when she thinks she has something over a man.

“Well, your whoring around finally came close to killing you this time. But as usual, you can never finish the job…”

He wheeled on her with a look of venomous hate that should be saved only for hell itself.

“Silencio!” he screamed at her. He walked over to a desk, opened the drawer and got out a Killing Bowie Knife about 13 inches long. He pointed it at her and hissed “If I hear one more sound out of you I will gut you like a fish. I will kill you, your sisters, your parents, your nieces and nephews, and maybe even our own kids because they are half yours! Then I will kill every lawyer you have ever met so I will be sure to get the one you threatened me with. Even if I have to leave this country, even if I lose everything, by the Gods of Atzlan, I will kill you now if you do not leave this place. Go to see those old crones you call sisters and stay there.
